“Espiritu De Jesus”- The First cattle brand of Texas
The first cattle brand in Texas was registered by Martin DeLeon in 1807 before Texas became a Republic. It was passed on to the DeLeon Family in Spain by the Jesuits who had previously used it for decades. It was later that Martin DeLeon, a descendant of the Spanish DeLeon Family would established his land grant in Texas and play a significant role in the “Birthing of Texas”.
The “E” stands for “Espiritu”, the “d” stands for “de”, and the “J” stands for “Jesus”. The name of the brand meaning “The Spirit of Jesus”.
This brand represents the heart and vision of Martin DeLeon, the leader who established it. It is not only for Texas but for our whole country, because we are all “blessed by the spirit of Jesus”.
As ranchers we give honor, respect, and loyalty to the owner of the ranch by acknowledging that “we are all in” when we ride for his brand.
